WE ARE A FAITH COMMUNITY IN THE CHRISTIAN TRADITION WHO BELIEVE IN A COMPASSIONATE, GENEROUS, AND LOVING GOD. This God, who came to humankind in the form of a human, Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, shares in our joys and accompanies us in our sorrow. We believe that God’s love is without limits and is extended to all people.
Life is meant to be lived abundantly. We enjoy God’s creation, thrive on relationships and acknowledge our responsibility to serve others.
Our faith is informed through reading of the love of God through Jesus Christ, and of humanity’s struggle with understanding how to be God’s people, as found in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.
Our living out that faith is informed by the teachings of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement. Wesley taught us to approach faith and living the Christian life using first, the reading of scripture, then also the gifts God gives us in our ability to:
- use reason,
- experience what it is to love and be loved,
- and to also learn from both the successes and failures of tradition.
Worship, prayer, study, critical thought, and lively dialog are also integral parts of how we learn about and grow in our Christian faith. Together we search for elusive truth that can only be glimpsed by pondering age old questions in a 21st Century arena.
Here is a sample of one of our Affirmations of Faith:
We are not alone, we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
We believe in the power of prayer. If you would like to request a special prayer for yourself or a friend, you are welcome to add the name to our prayer list during worship or email the church at email@example.com with the subject line “prayer request”.
Living a life of faith is a journey. Join us on the adventure!
